September 13, 1940 ~ January 23, 2022 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

Marcha Kay Thomas, of Pratt, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Marcha was born on September 13, 1940 in Virgil, Kansas to Earl and Bernice (Brown) Wait. Marcha loved her family very much. One of her greatest accomplishments in life was raising her children and getting to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She tragically lost the love of her life, William “Bill” Thomas, on September 22, 1995 after 18 years of marriage. Marcha spent her time focusing on various passions in life. She really enjoyed gambling, playing bingo, and spending time at the casino. She was often seen with a cup of coffee in her hand, as she drank several pots of coffee every day. She loved to grow flowers in her garden, and helped her kids take care of their plants as they would often die without Marcha’s tender loving care. Marcha also absolutely loved her job as a school bus driver at the Bus Barn. She enjoyed driving the kids and getting to know them. Marcha was a very loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Marcha is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Bernice (Brown) Wait; husband of 18 years, William “Bill” Thomas; children, Donna Orsak, Debbie Culver, and Michael and Patrick; and sister, Connie Bruce.

Marcha is survived by her children, Dianne Thomas, Robert (Carol) Mitchell, William (Connie) Mitchell, Earl Gordon (Sandy Lakin) Mitchell, Tommy Mitchell, and Misti (Dave) Marshall; 26 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; siblings, Darrel (Fredy) Wait and Earl Robert (Beverly) Wait; cherished fur-babies, Peaches and Frank; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 5-7pm at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 2pm, also at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
