Tribute

George Duane Ehret, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the age of 71. George was born on March 11, 1950 in El Dorado, Kansas to Barbara Ann & Merle Duane Ehret. He worked as a tool builder. He spent time working for several aircraft companies, including Boeing, Beech, LearJet, & Northrop, before retiring from Cessna after over 30 years of service to the aircraft industry. He liked to travel, enjoyed live music, and usually carried his harmonica in his pocket. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion.

George was very much a family man. He was witty and charming, always generous, occasionally cantankerous, and he held country western values. He showed his family resilience, independence, and love. He was charismatic, proud, a gentleman, a dancer, a joker, and the anchor that kept the family threaded tightly. He taught his children chess, strength, tolerance, etiquette, grace, forgiveness, and so much more. He could speak with silence and he taught many people how to listen to their hearts.

George is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann (Chappell) Ehret of Augusta, KS; his sisters, Deborah Knight of Augusta, KS, Marcie Louton of Albuquerque, NM, and Valerie Maleport of Augusta, KS; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

"The game of chess is not merely an idle amusement; Several very valuable qualities of the mind are to be acquired and strengthened by it, so as to become habits ready on all occasions, for life is a kind of chess" ~ Benjamin Franklin
