Galen’s life began on February 26, 1944 in Parsons, KS; the son of J.D. and Mary (Sheldon) Highbarger. Galen attended college at Butler Community College on a basketball scholarship. He was united in marriage to Kay Butts on October 22, 1960 in Kansas City, MO. Galen worked hard for his family managing his own business, Highbarger Construction. His loving family includes his wife, Kay of Leon; children Darren Highbarger of Augusta, Sheila (Carl) James of Leon, Tim (Michelle) Pilcher of Bridge City, TX, Dana (Eric) Ewbank of Liberty, MO; grandchildren Dalton (Lindsay) James, Derek (Sarah) Highbarger, Garrett (Jon Tucker) James, Courtney (Jeff) Scharff, David (Amanda) Highbarger, and Jaxon Highbarger; 9 great grandchildren; and brother, David Highbarger of Tulsa, OK. Galen passed away on October 6, 2021 at his home in Leon. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Mary Highbarger and a brother, Daniel Highbarger. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9 at the Highbarger House at 10:30 am. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the ICT Street Team.
