Tribute

Betty’s life began on August 4, 1929 in Mulvane, KS; the daughter of Edward R. and Effie E. (Butler) Couchman. Betty grew up in the Wichita area and, in her early adult life, was a bookkeeper in Topeka. Betty meet her future husband on a train between Topeka and Wichita. Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth (Ken) L. Salisbury on July 14, 1956 in Wichita, KS. She was dedicated to her family and worked hard to meet their needs. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, and cooking, receiving the Grand Champion award for her Oatmeal Cake at the Kansas State Fair. She was active in church, including teaching Sunday school, with her last home church being the Real Life Christian Church in El Dorado. When she was able, Betty enjoyed touring with her husband Ken. Their adventures took them to New York City, Washington DC, Florida, Canada, Yellowstone, and many other distant locations.
Her greatest joy was her family; which includes her husband, Ken; children John Salisbury of Wichita, James (Jean) Salisbury of Lincoln, NE, Charles R. (Anita) Salisbury of Wichita, Carol J. (Robert) Mitchell of El Dorado and Jennifer (Todd) Griggs of Augusta; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed having frequent family get togethers with plenty of food, love, and laughter. She was known by family members and many others for her cooking/baking. The cookie jar was never empty to the delight of her children and neighborhood kids that were always welcomed.
